Happy Happy Joy Joy by Annie Sever-Dimitri

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!

From studies of identical twins, scientists have learned that about 50% of our ability to be happy is genetic. Well, let me tell ya. I hit the genetic jackpot then! I have always been about as silly as you can possibly be, which makes me very happy. I have frequently been called “weird” due to the roaring manner in which laughter spills from my mouth with the greatest of ease. I visualize it as the laughter equivalent of the Niagara Falls.

What makes me happy and laugh so easily? Wow. Where to start? It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or exciting. One of my biggest happy highs is merely walking my dog and watching her precious, tiny body wiggle back and forth as she trots daintily down the sidewalk in search of delicious smells.

Simply being with family and friends brings delights untold. My husband, Jim, is a fellow goofball, albeit a closet one. He is a law professor needing to maintain a sense of decorum and composure while at work. Chasing a fellow professor merrily about the law school with a small gadget that makes farting noises would never float. However, at our apartment, it is a welcome and routine occurrence. We see how many ways we can trick each other with this festive device.
.
I have a bevy of fabulous friends whose presence in my life adds untold joy. It is divine.
My family is equally silly, and there are holiday and vacation pictures galore that feature us making faces or giving rabbit ears to one another.

Shopping is another activity that has provided me with a plethora of fun times throughout my life. I become very excited and joyful whenever I bounce into Macy’s, coupons in hand, knowing I will find exactly what I seek at a delicious price. You see, I know how to shop. I hunt bargains like a tiger gliding through the jungle seeking prey. And do I ever find them. I don’t need to buy anything, either, to satisfy my shopping hunger. It is a very relaxing way to pass time, as long as I am with a fellow retail aficionado or alone. I revel in all the colors and textures, and the displays provide inspiration on how to wear my existing wardrobe.
