As I was noticing the full attention of the sun brightening my face yesterday, my mind met a thought. It was the awareness of the seed of the self having a protective shell waiting to be broken open. In the past I have called this the Core and masks we all have to keep others from seeing our true selves. Regardless of the label, tendrils of new growth can only come into being when there is a crack unto the light.
This poem by Wu Ming Fu echoes my thought:
The seed that is to grow
must lose itself as seed;
And they that creep may graduate
through chrysalis to wings.
Wilt thou then, O mortal,
cling to husks which falsely seem to you the self?
As we stand in our circle today, I invite you to feel the seed of self and any protection you might have in place. Ask yourself what is in need of shifting so that more light and therefore more you can bloom into being. Bulbs are birthing green beginnings here in my office even without the benefit of dirt. They sit in a clay pot and begin their new lives. Five tulips found their way into my home but only one got the benefit of the west window full of light. While the remainder were beautiful in their own way, only the one bloomed into its fullness. Within its tightly held petals only one view could be enjoyed but in its highest range all beauty was shared. We are like that.
I invite you to ask yourself: Are you reaching for the full light? How are you breaking the shell that binds you to an old and outdated version of yourself? What are your ideas on how to come into your own full bloom? Are you willing to risk being vulnerable and real to meet your higher self and therefore the higher self of others?
I am here to hear you and to support you in blooming!
Happy Spring! Happy Blooming!
