Put a Little Light on the Subject

Put a Little Light on the Subject Monday Morning Meandering
A winter wonderland is upon us as we gather this morning and despite the fact that snow can put a damper on easy walking and driving, it is delightful, isn’t it? Let us gather with glee and gratitude that we are alive at the beginning of this new week. Welcome to the Wonderland!

The wisdom within is what is meandering through my mind this morning. I spent the weekend with my faculties and energy turned toward to self listening and honoring. My life is built around my Core and yet there were inklings I had been missing because I hadn’t been still and quiet enough. I’m sure there is more but what I learned will take me forward in just the right ways at just the right speed. More of that will be shared in the times ahead.

Like the pink blossoms that died and then returned to the plant upon my desk, parts of me are gone and parts have been reborn and some born for the very first time. It is as if a light has been put on the subject of my life.

‘Put a Little Light on the Subject’ is a common childhood line that is often repeated between my daughters and me. It was something I said and did often when I walked into where they were reading or studying as the light from the sky drew dim. With a flick of the light switch, their world was illuminated. I did this over the weekend with my grandson, Louie, and caught the look of Jenni. Our lineage lives on in interesting ways.

I invite you to imagine that you have been living in a less than optimal lit room and that someone that loves you just turned on the light. You could certainly have gotten up and turned it on yourself but it hadn’t yet occurred to you or you hadn’t taken the time. Let someone else, real or imagined, person or spirit, do it for you. Now look with improved light upon the subject that is you and your life.

This new view can be scary because the dust bunnies and pimples can no longer hide. It might be dirty or cluttered or full of skeletons from the past that we would rather not see. There are also glimpses of beauty there – that forgotten treasure, the words that were hidden behind the words, the lamp that was pushed out of sight to make room for something else can be brought out now and can add even more light to your life.

This is much of what is happening in our world now. Some of us have pushed the light aside or not realized that the dusk came and that we needed more light. Some have turned on the light but they were turning on the one closest to them, the one in the small dark room from which they believed they sat. They weren’t turning on the big light, the light that truly lights up the new view. Or perhaps they did have the big light on but its shine was too overwhelming to appreciate. It is possible that you have moved beyond the struggle and that your life has no darkness and that is beautiful indeed. For those that are still seeing any darkness, try again to see the light lit. Try again to not be afraid of what is found in the illumined darkness.

Now sit with the wisdom within and trust that all will be cleaned and cleared and that continued clarity will come in droves of awakening. We don’t have to be afraid of the unknown anymore because we really already know. Our Core knows and always has known. Are you trusting your Core today? Are you ready for the light to come on and the brightness to create waves of clarity?

This isn’t always easy work or for the light of heart. We sometimes have to pull out our extra courage and swords of steel. You have what it takes though. We have all been well-prepared. Now is the time to sit with our wisdom within and to look at our current reality without avoidance or excuses. Looking into the light might blind us but with the light at our back shining, we will SEE.

Whatever your darkness is or has been, let it dim. Those old patterns and habits and confused parts aren’t steady enough to stay. Love them, honor them and let them go. They don’t have to be in our faces tormenting us. Breathe and let them go.

Whatever your lightness is or has been, let it shine. Pull it from the corners of your existence and put it on display. It is time to love them, to honor them and to share them. I know you have been waiting and the world has too. Our greatest work is to shine wherever we are so let’s get to it today. Breathe and begin.

I am here to hear you and to help you hear yourself. Sometimes we don’t have a weekend away to hear the wisdom within. Many have found the clarity they seek in an hour dedicated to the Core of you and a coach that cares.
Take care, I care.
