Bad days don’t find me very often, but that Saturday was a bad day and by the evening I was spent, exhausted and tearful. I was creating dinner for a friend and the creative process was overwhelming me instead of delighting me.
Something made me think of my grandmother and how wonderful her food always tasted and how I knew she added love to every bite. I stopped crying and I centered myself by paying attention to my feet on the ground and breathing a few times in through my nose and out through my mouth. I started focusing on love and how despite the difficult day there is love all around me. I had been peeling and grating carrots for our salads and I continued with love in my heart and in my hands.
He arrived and we sat around the velvet laden table with candles lighting the night and the mood calm. He went for the salad first and I wish I could write his expression on this page. His eyes widened, he leaned forward and his lips meandered from side to side. He took another bite of the simple salad and moaned softly. I stopped eating to watch him, not sure what was going to come next. He said ‘This is the most delicious salad I have ever had.’ I started to become confused because the salad was unadorned and he continued ‘You put love in these carrots.’ I have been aware of the power of energy for many years and I get the way it works but I was shocked that this man felt the love that I specifically put into those carrots.
That moment shifted me and I will not forget. We hold power in our hands and in our hearts and I cannot begin to fathom how we could lighten up this world by holding the intention of love in our daily details. I’m wondering today about the influence we can have and I invite you to add love to your moments.
