The Return of the Dove

As my fingers fell upon my laptop keyboard, I heard the sound of the Mourning Dove having returned from her flight to far away. I sat for a moment listening to her soulful song and here is what she has to say on this Valentine's Day:

 

Out of all of the days of the year, today let yourself be in the feminine, the soft and receptive, the gentle and nurturing. Peace is the path in and out of everywhere. Yes, she knows she holds legends and lores about sexuality and she honors those as well and encourages us to express our sexual selves in the ways we are prompted today and everyday. It is natural to want to express love in the physical. She is also the embodiment of maternal instinct and invites us to spread the instinct beyond being a mother into every corner of our lives. Her mournful song is an invitation to the water which symbolizes emotions. She has shown people the way to water for eons - saving them from dehydration. What well do you need to drink from today to feel fully present in your love for self and love for others? Drink long and well.

 

Turning to the book 'Animal Speak' by Ted Andrews, I read that the Mourning Dove stirs the internal ways of our emotions. Play with them today and give them mindful expression. Feel the stirring of the promise that is Spring. The Dove lays 2 eggs which represent coupling, partners, and teamwork. She tells us that new life is possible. Creativity has found its time. Lastly, she tells us to mourn the past and to awaken to the promise of a new future. I invite you to meditate with Dove in your mind. She promises to reveal what you can give birth to in your life. May peace, love, joy, excellent health and prosperity be present for you today and everyday.
