Life or Death Meandering

Pen and paper called me this morning as they often do. I answered their call. Curled up in my big yellow chair I began the unfolding that I can count on from writing. Within minutes my eyes were drawn to the right hand corner of my home which was calling for aliveness. The prompting came with the energy to take action so I moved a plant to that place and repositioned my wooden flute. A spray of red was needed so I fished out a blank canvas and plenty of paint. I started in the center and a flower took form. In 15 minutes flat aliveness was born. That corner hums with life now and opens to other active energies in the room.

Then I returned to writing but not for long. The shiny wood of my guitar caught my eye and I moved toward it, seeing its calling as an invitation instead of a distraction. Focus and flow both have their time. Strings beneath my fingers brought life to my life. No certain song was birthed, just a melody of mindless movement. It did not take much effort to bring aliveness.

As I returned once again to the yellow chair I noticed the comfort of the connections. The red flower flowed to a red pillow and then to the binder holding images of my dreams. The golden wood of the g uitar touched its same honey color in the chair by the computer. Dances of green connected the plants and my space woke up more to the morning. My life woke up more to me.

A few weeks ago I told a friend 'This is not my life but somehow I am in it.' We had been talking about our intentions and whether or not our lives were as we wanted. I bet you know that place between setting the intentions and surrendering the outcome. We can get so clear and yet surprises show up. Are they invitations or distractions? Do we stick with them for the possibility of a lesson or abandon the ship? Only we can know.

Much is crumbling, dying so to speak in our worlds. The hope within knows it takes so little to get the positive momentum going. Hope is what brings us up out of the chair to move, to stretch, to go deeper, to get more real, to create, to feel more alive. With each moment, we can bring more aliveness or more death to our lives. Are you focusing on the dying or the living? Both have their purpose and their timing. The choice is ours.

Ideas for bringing more aliveness to your life:
stretch, move, dance
create, create, create like painting a simple picture or making music
clean the kitchen
pet a pet
hug yourself. hug someone else.
light a candle
smile
be with the process

Here is to living with aliveness,
Dane
